Josh Basnett Lead Guitar and Vocals
Joshua Kent Basnett was born in Kansas City, Missouri, under the Libra moon. Uh (pulls a drag). Um.
He attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints until the age of 13, when he moved to Tulsa, OK. Dad said, "hey guys, I'm not attending church anymore, but you guys can if you want to." Um. He just went to a Mormon funeral and his cousin, up in the front row, sang the bass part. He was DOWN LOW! Josh apologizes. It was funny for him. He didn't sing, though. He was too busy laughing. The multiple marriage thing, was pretty awesome. Jesus came down and showed the Indians the way.
The first time he played music was on his dad's '69 Hummingbird. It immediately burst into flames because he was so awesome. It's all right, though. It was a bean writing mother fucker compared to others. It was really like throaty. It's good for some John Couger shit, but that's about it.
So after he picked on that Gibson, his dad bought him an Arbor guitar, which he learned "One Way Out" by the Allman Brothers Band. He destroyed it because it wouldn't stay in tune. He destroyed it by throwing it across the room. Then he was then given a Mexican Strat upon which he learned a lot of Little Feat and Leon Russell (He thinks this is boring, but it's really not.). He listened to a lot of records and that's how he learned how to play guitar. He used the DJ scratch method. Wicki-Wicki. He was then said to be mixing mad hits.

His high school career saw him as a multi-sport athelete, but that fucking guitar took the life out of him. At this point, he started his first band called Hatfield. They never played against the McCoys. Hatfield allowed him to tap that senior ass. There was a bus accident, Cliff Burton died, and so he moved to Colorado, first to Leadville, where he lived with seven guys (no homo), where there was a fist fight every night. He had enough of the "COCK"ville, when his older brother, Charlie, Mac and Jay moved to Breckinridge. They had some good times there.
Him, Mac and Jay the original members of Hatfield, moved to Lawrence to be closer to family. He started another band in Lawrence called the Velvet Whores. After that, his uncle, from Liberty, schooled Josh in the ways of Bluegrass. He then started another band with his brother and Mac called the Resonators. They played mostly bluegrass.
Following that, he hooked up with Stephanie Hewitt and the Flatland for about a year. Next came Devil Ate the Groundhog, which played mostly old-timey frailand banjo shit. He then met up with Trucker. He fell in love with the song "Tiney Hiney" and the rest is history.... Josh is also in Das Furbender.
